Sonnie Hereford Elementary Groundbreaking Ceremony

I was honored to have spoken with a true leader, Dr. Sonnie Hereford III, at the groundbreaking ceremony for Sonnie Hereford Elementary School. 

In September 1963, Dr. Hereford enrolled his son, Sonnie Hereford IV, in the former Fifth Avenue Elementary School in Huntsville, Alabama. As the first black student to enroll in an all-white school, Hereford's son became the catalyst for integration in Alabama.
