I was honored to have spoken with a true leader, Dr. Sonnie Hereford III, at the groundbreaking ceremony for Sonnie Hereford Elementary School.
In September 1963, Dr. Hereford enrolled his son, Sonnie Hereford IV, in the former Fifth Avenue Elementary School in Huntsville, Alabama. As the first black student to enroll in an all-white school, Hereford's son became the catalyst for integration in Alabama. Thank you to the Hereford family for your courage, for setting an example, and for leaving a legacy that will be remembered by generations. Congratulations to the town of New Hope on the grand opening of the new Walmart Neighborhood Market!
It is always a pleasure to attend the annual Historic Huntsville Foundation (HHF) Christmas Party, held this year at the newly renovated Weeden House. Thank you to all who coordinated this beautiful gathering.
As members of the Historic Huntsville Foundation, we are dedicated to the preservation of the architecturally and historically significant sites and structures in Huntsville-Madison County, Alabama. |
