GOOD NEWS: Forestry and Paper Products is one of the state of Alabama’s dominant industries. Alabama has the second largest timberland base in the United States and is ranked Number 7 for lumber production.
What a blessing for Westervelt Co. to increase its presence in Alabama once again with a new wood products manufacturing facility in rural Clarke County. The company has been in our state for 134 years, a presence that highlights Westervelt’s important role as Alabama continues to lead in the Forestry Products industry. The program provided attendees with methods of how to survive an active shooter event.
Hopefully we will never have to use these techniques, but here they are: [A.D.D. - Avoid the shooter (get as far away as possible - get out); if you cannot avoid, then Deny the shooter access to your area (locking/barricading doors, etc.); if all else fails - Defend your right to live - team with others to knock down and restrain the shooter.] #Our67 Thank you to the Village of Providence for coordinating a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, which included a toy drive for Toys for Tots. This was a beautiful event for my daughter and I to attend that provided teachable moments about giving and gratitude. #Our67

Alabama has the second largest timberland base in the United States and is ranked Number 7 for lumber production. Estimated by the University of Alabama's economic modeling to produce an impact of over $26 million, the addition of the newest Georgia-Pacific lumber facility will generate a significant economic boost for the City of Talladega, Talladega County, and the surrounding area.
Georgia-Pacific's continued presence (now eight sites in Alabama) is a prime example of what can result when the public and private sector work together to create communities that people want to be a part of long-term. And, using a saw to cut a piece of red, white, and blue lumber in place of a ribbon is perhaps the most creative ceremony we have ever seen - a 'cutting edge' way showcase products Made in Alabama and Made in the USA! http://www.alreporter.com/2018/11/16/georgia-pacific-opens-new-lumber-plant-in-talladega/ Today the Madison County Sheriff's Dept is collecting nonperishable food items for the Food Bank of North Alabama in the Whole Foods parking lot (Bob Wallace and the Parkway) until 6PM. A wonderful representation of how our community bands together to help folks in need #Our67
