Yesterday evening we were privileged to attend the Huntsville Inner City Learning Center’s (HICLC) Spring Dinner. The HICLC mentors over seventy (70) children after school through Bible-based teaching, academic rigor, and the emulation of morals and life skills. I support the Huntsville Inner City Learning Center because they recognize that it is a combination of the aforementioned principles that shape our future leaders. We are very fortunate to have the HICLC in Huntsville. Thank you to founder Art Leslie for using God’s gifts to shine upon our community!
This morning the Huntsville Botanical Garden hosted one of the most beautiful ribbon cutting ceremonies I have ever witnessed. The Garden is special because of the investments of so many folks within our community. Thank you to everyone who continues to contribute to this shining star within Huntsville and Madison County! Serving Breakfast at the Downtown Huntsville Rescue Mission this morning was one of the most heartwarming moments I have experienced in a long time. Thank you to the groups of dedicated volunteers who have a willingness to serve our community. God bless you all!
What blessed morning to extend a warm Huntsville welcome to Arete! Arete provides a myriad of scientific-based technical services, including being pioneers in the field of developing algorithms for drones.
Thank you, Arete, for choosing to expand your operations into the Huntsville-Madison County area. Thank you to WTKI Talk Radio for the opportunity to provide an update on economic development principles and how they apply to Huntsville and the state of Alabama.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKTyOrABc3E Renovations are underway at Constitution Village as part of the Legacy Project, which will be completed just in time for Alabama's Bicentennial. It is a true blessing to spend time at such a historic place every day. #AL200 ![]() We had a fascinating luncheon today featuring Steve Cook, part of the President-elect Trump NASA Transition Team. Mr. Cook, along with an elite group of space exploration-related professionals and academics, met from November 2016 through January 2017 and designed a strategic plan for the United States’ role in space.
President Trump and the leadership he has surrounded himself with believe that we [the United States] can marshal our resources properly and lead in space again. Part of that strategy includes public-private partnerships; federal resources (NASA) can focus on exploring the frontier, and the commercial sector can focus on supplying space. Thank you, Mr. Cook, for your valuable insight and for all you do! Thank you to Joe and Pam Alexander for hosting a Leadership Huntsville/Madison County dinner over the weekend. Presented at the homes of fellow Leadership alumni, these opportunities provide an excellent way for fellowship as well as fundraising for Leadership Huntsville’s programs.
![]() Thank you to the band Resonate for playing at the 2017 Spring Market & Craft Show today! You all are some of the most talented high school musicians I have ever heard! Today my family and I enjoyed supporting small businesses by "Shopping Local" at the 2017 Huntsville Spring Market & Craft Show. What a fun time and an incredible array of gifts. Thank you to all of the participants!
![]() Thank you to Alabama Republican Party Chair Terry Lathan for providing an update to the Downtown Republican Women of Huntsville, and thank you for the countless number of hours you spend each week in your position. We appreciate you! Thank you to the Community Kite Festival Committee for the invitation to a fantastic luncheon to celebrate this year's accomplishments and recognize next year's Chair. The Kite Festival is a prime example of a partnership between nonprofits, businesses, and local government that enhances Huntsville residents' quality of life.
Rosemarie Reinhard Musso, author of Father Forgive Them: The Four Laws of Forgiveness, was born and raised in Germany during World War Two. During her childhood, she witnessed the tragedies of the Third Reich during Hitler’s reign. Ms. Musso has resided in Birmingham, Alabama since 1961, practices law, and is the epitome of the American Dream. God bless you, Rosemarie Reinhard Musso!
What a phenomenal crowd at #SBDCDay2017 [UAH Small Business Development Center Day 2017!]
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. When patrons choose to purchase goods and services from locally owned businesses, a portion of tax revenue stays in our area, which strengthens our local economy. Thank you to the SBA, UAH, Chamber of Commerce, and of course, the businesses who contributed to today's (and every day's) efforts. As I reflect on today's projects as well as our community, I feel an overwhelming need to thank everyone who makes Huntsville (and our entire state) such a special place to live! <3
What a beautiful first day of spring in Huntsville, and perfect weather to water the garden at Constitution Village!
Taco Mama's second Huntsville location is officially OPEN in the Village of Providence! Congratulations to Chris and Paige Brown, and thank you for continuing to invest in the Huntsville Community!
It was a pleasure speaking with my friend Will Webb this morning about topics related to workforce development in Huntsville and around our state. Will serves on the Alabama Workforce Development Board and serves as President of Still Serving Veterans, which empowers veterans and their families to transition into post-military careers and communities. Thank you, Will Webb, for your service!
Family and friends deemed it essential to cover me up amidst the Ireland-like wintry weather we experienced during the 40th annual Huntsville Saint Patrick's Day Parade! ;)
Thank you to everyone who made the day so special! Entrepreneurship is key to Huntsville's economic diversification process. Thank you to groups like Hot Coffee that provide a forum for local entrepreneurs to discuss ideas and make connections with various industries.
