US History : Today is Presidents' Day (Washington's Birthday).
In honor of Presidents' Day (Washington's Birthday), I am showcasing one of the few hand-stiched 48-star flags in the state of Alabama, purchased from local historian John Kvach, which hangs in my office. Whether looking at a 48 star or 50 star flag, President Washington would marvel at how much our country has expanded! Learn more about how the Uniform Monday Holiday Act enhanced the scope of this holiday via HISTORY: https://www.history.com/topics/holidays/presidents-day Tim and I had a good time watching Alabama Mens Basketball’s victory over Georgia. We are so proud of our school! #Our67
GOOD NEWS : Alabama leads in economic development because of continuous collaboration between the public and private sector to create an environment conducive for business. When companies are seeking space, infrastructure is a critical component they analyze during the site selection process. APM Terminals Mobile’s decision to add tracks as well as railyard storage capacity, in addition to better access between the berth and the railyard, are notable improvements that will make our state even more attractive as a logistics corridor.

GOOD NEWS - Rural Women’s Health : USA Health, Franklin Primary Health Center, and Monroe County Hospital expand OB-GYN care in rural Evergreen, Alabama
For patients who live in rural areas, distance from home, including the time and money it takes to travel to appointments, is often a barrier to receiving proper medical care. Patients may make it to one appointment but never return for follow-up visits, which can pose health risks. USA Health, Franklin Primary Health Center, and Monroe County Hospital understand the challenges in rural obstetrics and gynecology and have sought to fill in the gap by offering comprehensive health services for women and girls. It is a step in the right direction for ladies who may not be able to travel to Mobile or Montgomery for care. Thank you to all of the organizations and physicians for your compassion and willingness to work in Alabama’s underserved areas. #Our67 Dr. Nicole Jones More here in Alabama Today: https://altoday.com/.../49887-new-womens-clinic-coming-to... When Tim and I travel, I analyze how other cities and towns build their respective areas with a goal to bring back ideas to Alabama. Oxford, Mississippi has a beautiful downtown. One of our favorites is Square Books, which has an excellent reading selection, including signed copies. City Grocery offers amazing fine dining, and there are several boutiques for men and women, coffee, and restaurants. The downtown is walkable, small business friendly, and pays tribute to local legend William Faulkner. Well-done, Oxford.
GOOD NEWS : Alabama has an impressive track record with exports. In 2021, our state exported goods and services at a total of almost $21 billion, which increased 21.8% from 2020. New data from 2022 shows a 23% increase from the same time period in the previous year. Pandemic-related global trade disruptions led to economic uncertainty, but fortunately, demand increased for Alabama-made products.
Our quality and skilled workforce pushed through. The strength of Alabama’s companies is a result of dedicated human capital, innovative products and services, and continued communication and positive relationships with nations throughout the world. #Our67 Dr. Nicole Jones More here in Alabama Today: https://altoday.com/.../49831-alabama-exports-near-23-4...
