Out of all of today’s events around Huntsville, one moment touched my heart the most. I was honored to have spoken with Mrs. Nancy Salmon at the ninth annual Battle of the Buffalo. Battle of the Buffalo is organized in memory of Nancy’s son, Paul “Fish” Salmon. In 2006, Fish was diagnosed with leukemia and underwent treatment at Clearview Cancer Institute (CCI). He was a brother of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and a senior at The University of Alabama in Huntsville when he passed away in 2007. In 2009, the men of Alpha Tau Omega began building a festival centered around Paul’s favorite snack, buffalo wings. In its first eight years, the event raised a total of $140,000 and continues to support local cancer patients undergoing treatment via the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation. Thank you to the Salmon family, the brothers of Alpha Tau Omega, and all of the volunteers of this very special fundraiser. God bless you all! Comments are closed.
