Cullman County Republican Party Annual Dinner

4/29/2022

Yesterday evening the Cullman County Republican Party for hosted a sold-out annual dinner that provided an opportunity for guests to hear from candidates locally and across our state. Tim and I enjoyed being amongst friends and folks who work together to build their communities. The West Point and Battleground areas of Cullman County are now part of House District 14. Thank you to the Cullman County Republican Party for coordinating this meeting. The primary election is 24 May. #Our67 #VoteWadsworth

Prayers for Steve McMillan

4/29/2022

Prayers for the family of longtime friend and legislator Steve McMillan, who passed away yesterday. We feel confident that the Lord is smiling at Steve saying, “well done, my faithful servant.”

Pictured: One of my favorite memories with Steve McMillan was Descendants Day. In April 2019, family members of the original 44 delegates gathered at the Alabama Department of Archives and History for a special presentation by Governor Kay Ivey and the unveiling of the restored 1819 constitution. #Our67

Birmingham Committee Foreign Relations Meeting

4/26/2022

At yesterday evening’s Birmingham Committee on Foreign Relations meeting, International World Games Association CEO Joachim Gassow gave us an inside look at the World Games, including the history, worldwide application process, and how the Board selected Birmingham, AL, United States as the upcoming host in July. Birmingham and our entire state will benefit from the economic and cultural impact of this 11-day event.

For the BFCR meeting venue, we also had the opportunity to utilize the Clubhouse on Highland, a historic home built in 1910 by an early member of First United Methodist Church, Birmingham. #Our67

Gold Star Families

4/25/2022

If you or someone close to you has served in the military, chances are at some point you have met a member of a Gold Star Family. Gold Star families are forever plagued with devastating loss, as their loved one made the ultimate sacrifice as a hero while fighting for our country.

As a member of the Birmingham Committee on Foreign Relations, I had an opportunity last year to meet Josh Rogin, a Washington DC-based member of the media who writes columns for the Washington Post and other outlets.

I applaud Mr. Rogin for writing this piece. A terrorist is a terrorist, and the IRGC is a terrorist organization. No matter what political party we (personally or collectively) identify with, we need to be honest about this fact and treat it as such - for national security reasons and out of respect for the living and the dead. #USA #Our67

April 20th, 2022

4/20/2022

Thank you to all of the Cullman County Mayors and County Commissioners for sharing what is going on in your respective areas today. As part of the program, Tim and his colleague, Corey Harbison, both gave legislative updates. We learned that the new Cullman water park, part of Cullman Parks and Recreation, will be connected to Heritage Park and can serve up to 2,400 people. That’s a lot of folks! Communities benefit when leaders share information and collaborate on ways to better their areas. #Our67
